An international NGO, implementing an integrated health
care, development and empowerment project, in collaboration with other
partners, with focus on supporting and improving the capacity of communities
within the Northern Arid Lands of Kenya to deliver high quality services as a
means of strengthening the Kenya Ministries of Medical Services and Public
Health response and efforts to expand and rapidly scale up integrated health
care service delivery within designated health care facilities and institutions
in that region, is seeking suitably qualified Kenyans able to fill the
following positions:
1. Senior Technical Advisor (STA)
Location: Nairobi
Position Summary
As Senior Technical Advisor the primary responsibilities
will include technical assistance, capacity building, management and ensuring
the clinical strategy employed on the grant is technically sound.
The STA will provide leadership to the clinical and
technical teams to ensure progress as per project objectives and annual work
plan, develop and maintain relationships with consortium partners and
stakeholders, and capacity-building.
The STA will also conduct clinical mentorship and trainings
on advanced clinical issues in integrated healthcare including HIV, maternal,
neonatal and child heath, reproductive and family health and management.
He/she will take a lead in technical strategy development,
program reviews and drafting technical reports.
In addition to this, represent the program at local,
national, and international forums, and participate in programmatic and
technical meetings with consortium partners, MoH and other stakeholders.
Position requires a strong interest in coordinating the
delivery of integrated health care and capacity building.

Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree
(MBChB/MBBS/MD) from a recognized university required with significant field
experience in clinical and/or community-based care
Masters of Medicine (MMed or equivalent) in ObGyn
Registration as a Physician or Gynecologist/Obstetrician
with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Board with a valid practice
license
Willingness and ability to travel extensively and regularly
through the Kenya Northern Arid Lands
Health-related community development experience is
desirable.
Experience in health care programming at the field level and
providing technical assistance to partner organizations; knowledge and
experience of ART programmatic and technical issues highly desired.
2.Medical Officer, Continuous Quality Improvement
(CQI)
Location: Garisa & Isiolo
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor (STA),
with guidance from the STA CQI, the Medical Officer - CQI will be responsible
for providing capacity building and mentoring to health facilities.
The primary function of this position will be to assist
supported local health facilities and district level health personnel in
developing continuous quality improvement teams and implementing small test of
change (STOC) at the facility level.
The Medical Officer CQI will work with district and health
facility to form CQI teams, collect initial indicators, develop STOC activities
over time, collect monthly reports and provide feedback and recommendations to
the CQI Lead and STA.
The holder of this position will provide leadership to the
Technical Assistance (TA) team, ensuring proper planning for the technical team
in conjunction with the STA.
Position requires a strong interest in coordinating the delivery of integrated health care and training.

3. Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health Nurse
Location: Garisa & Isiolo
Position Summary
Position holder, under supervision of the Senior Technical
Advisor, will assist with implementing the developed health strategy to be
employed on the grant for maternal, neonatal and child health training and
capacity building in the unique settings of the Northern Arid lands region of
Kenya;
develop community health networks with the CBTS Specialists;
integrate quality assurance data into site-specific plans
for healthcare improvement;
provide hands-on technical support and capacity
building for instituting an integrated health care delivery system including
reproductive health and family planning efforts through coordination with
different technical team members and consortium partners;
capacity building role with particular emphasis in
developing an effective practical nurses mentorship program that addresses
emerging practice needs with focus on maternal, neonatal and child health
including reproductive health and family planning;
provide opportunities for nurses involved in the care of
patients with HIV/AIDS to update their clinical knowledge and skills and
improve clinical decision making skills regarding patient care through nurse
specific training and mentoring of facility healthcare workers, Community
Health Care workers and Traditional Birth Attendants (CHCWs).
Qualifications & Experience:
Higher Nursing degree: BSN or Registered Nurse/ Midwife
Current clinical practice as a nurse
Training experience required.
Training and or certification in family planning and
reproductive health is an advantage
At least 3 years of recent experience in the care of
patients affected by HIV/AIDS, PMTCT, Safe delivery practices and Care of the
newborn.
Post graduate training in public health is a plus
Willingness and ability to live and travel regularly through
the Kenya Northern Arid Lands
Health-related community development experience is
desirable.
Knowledge and experience of ART programmatic and technical
issues highly desired.
Assist facility with development and implementation of
networks of community-based care, including awareness and mobilization, stigma
reduction, home-based care, and support groups.
Assist sites with movement of care away from main
clinic/health centre by identifying, developing and disseminating successful
models of decentralization. Train facility staff to deliver care in
decentralized settings.
Provide training, mentorship and capacity building for
facility nursing staff and other health care workers.

4. Nutrition Specialist
Location: Garisa & Isiolo
Position Summary
The Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, implementing and supervising of nutrition activities to meet project goal of instituting an integrated health care system within supported districts, facilities and communities
Supervise all nutrition services (preventive and curative );
Provide technical (nutritional) support for the
implementation of approved integrated health plans;
Plan, monitor, implement and evaluate specific nutrition in
patients visiting a health facility;
Plan, implement and supervise therapeutic diets;
Assess patients’ nutrition related needs and provide support
supervision of staff working under this position;
Supervise distribution of nutrition supplies and commodities
(Vitamin A, Unimix, Nurto – pap etc);
Work closely with health management team members to ensure
coordinated implementation of Nutrition and other donor funded public health
nutrition projects; and
Advise on all nutrition related matters in the district
Qualifications/Experience:
A degree in Nutrition or a related field e.g. Nutrition and
Dietetics, Food Science and Technology and Home Economics
At least three (3) years’ experience in the field of
nutrition
Knowledge of public nutrition issues and trends
5.Health Supply Chain Specialist
Location: Nairobi
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor with guidance from the Health Supply Chain Technical Advisor, the responsibility of the incumbent will be to drive the fulfillment of the core function within the APHIA Plus Imarisha project health supply chain requirements by developing and implementing appropriate strategy for ensuring a functional and dependable system of health supply chain to support a successful integrated health service delivery system covering HIV, family planning, reproductive health etc., within the Kenya Northern Arid Lands region
Qualifications & Experience:
Hold a B. Pharm degree from a recognized university and
valid/current practicing license.
Have a minimum of 3 year experience in providing technical
and managerial services in drug inventory management
Must be experienced in hospital pharmacy operations and
hospital inventory management operations
Have excellent facilitation skills with emphasis on adult
learning techniques
Familiar with local logistical operations in the country
such as distribution, inventory management and warehousing operations
Has demonstrable ability to provide training in rational use
of medicines, inventory management and issues relating to drug supply
management
Be willing to travel extensively and regularly and stay for
extended periods within the Kenya Northern Arid Lands. May be required to live
in this region
Post graduate training in public health is a plus

6. Laboratory Specialist
Location: Garisa & Isiolo
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the STA, with guidance from the Laboratory STA, the Laboratory Specialist will work to ensure proper transfer of the global organisational and APHAI+ Imarisha specific project laboratory strategy by providing technical assistance and capacity building health care facility laboratory scientists and technicians in support of laboratory activities. S/he will provide oversight to the laboratory components at health care facilities
The essential functions will include:
• Laboratory Assessments (including suggested training and equipment procurement)
Conduct an assessment of a laboratory during visits to the laboratory to assess capacity, quality control and assurance, and laboratory needs.
• Laboratory Capacity Building and Technical Assistance
The laboratory Specialist will be trained to assist laboratories in capacity building. This involves training, including but not limited to, equipment techniques, didactic trainings, review of information and techniques learned during site activation, reagent forecasting and procurement, laboratory flow/
specimen tracking, and maintenance.
• Laboratory Logistics in-country
Where necessary the laboratory Specialist will support health care facilities to forecast their reagent needs, procure reagents from manufacturers and ensure timely distribution of the reagents to the health care facilities from the National laboratory supply chain mechanism
• Laboratory Troubleshooting
The laboratory Specialist will assist all health care facilities in troubleshooting all problems that occur within a laboratory.
• Representation and networking
Establish relationships with any laboratories designated as central laboratories for selected services. The laboratory Specialist will work closely with these laboratories to ensure project supported health care facilities have timely and adequate access to these services.
Qualifications/Experience:
Master of Laboratory Sciences Degree
Current Kenya Medical Technologists and Technicians Board
registration with at least five years experience in a busy laboratory.
Experience in ART monitoring training will be an added
advantage.
An international NGO, implementing an HIV care and treatment
partnership project in collaboration with other partners aims to build capacity
of the public health response of Central Province to achieve and maintain
universal access and high quality HIV prevention.
In addition, the project will support health systems
strengthening activities including infrastructure development and improvement
capacity development of partners in resource mobilization, allocation and
use.
This project will also support development of high quality
integrated primary HIV care services, linked to existing chronic and preventive
care services, including treatment of chronic complications of HIV therapy and

Essential Job Functions
Assist in the coordination of the grant responsibility for
supply chain management and procurement of supplies and pharmaceuticals for the
CRISSP grant
Develop and institute training and capacity building of
supported health care facilities and district health staff on forecasting drug
and health supply needs, procurement, tracking inventory, storage, dispensing,
good pharmacy practice and monitoring of pharmaceuticals locally.
With support from the Health Supply Chain Technical Advisor,
provide guidance to ensure that health care facility procurement of drugs for
supporting an integrated health care system and overall pharmaceutical
management procedures follow respective Ministry of Health guidelines for drug
management protocols and are compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Collect, synthesize and transmit data and information
related to drugs and health care supplies utilization at project-supported
health care facilities and districts within the Central Province has input into
forecasting future needs
Work to develop, strengthen and integrate ARVs and other
health supplies procurement and supply system with health care facility overall
pharmaceutical management systems.
Contribute to the maintenance of established systems and
mechanisms in Kenya, for the acquisition and delivery of drugs and health
supplies that are most appropriate to the needs of the CRISSP Project

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor (Lab),
the Laboratory specialist will be responsible for providing capacity building
and mentoring of laboratory teams.
The primary function of this position will be to assist
supported local laboratories and district medical laboratory personnel in
providing quality laboratory services at site level.
The Laboratory specialist will work with district laboratory
teams in Central Province to develop laboratory safety and quality
manuals.
The lab specialists will also train and assist laboratory
teams to work towards the accreditation of laboratories by developing key
documents such as commodity reporting forms, SOPs, equipment inventory,
ensuring internal quality control as well as participation in external quality
control programs.
In addition He/She will train laboratory teams in collection
and documentation of monthly reports and provide feedback and recommendations
to the STA.
The holder of this position will provide leadership to the
Technical Assistance (TA) team, ensuring proper planning for the technical team
in conjunction with the STA.
Position requires a strong interest in coordinating the
delivery of ART monitoring tests as well as the diagnosis of STIs and
opportunistic infections, including TB.
This is a professional position requiring sound
interpersonal and organizational skills, communication and leadership skills.
The laboratory specialist will be called upon whenever
necessary to provide laboratory mentorship and training across care and
treatment programs supported by the organization.
Qualifications/Experience:
Master of Laboratory Sciences Degree

registration with at least five years experience in a busy laboratory.
Experience in ART monitoring training will be an added
