ICT Jobs Kenya. Our client is a local organisation and key operator within the Capital Markets industry. To manage their large volumes of data and facilitate effective service to their corporate and individual clients, they are  looking for a highly motivated Database Administrator. Reporting to the Manager in charge of information technology, you will be expected to ensure availability of credible, up-to-date (real time) information for decision making through the effective management of the various databases already in existence or development of new ones.

Responsibilities
Development and implement security procedures for database applications that address employee data access needs as well as risk of data loss or disclosure.
Take custody of all the databases both on the primary and secondary sites and oversee operational functions of mission critical systems.
Management and maintenance of the operating, trading, financial and other systems and database across the organisation.
Evaluation of user requests for new, modified or updated software application programmes to determine feasibility and compatibility with the core system.
Continuously review, test and evaluate the existing database & related systems to determine their effectiveness, reliability and compatibility.
Monitor the performance of their core system that is internet based including the connectivity of websites to the system, database connectivity, multimedia and searchable content, as well as troubleshooting.
Provision of training and certification on the core system as is required.

Requirements
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field.
Professional DBA training in MS SQL Server 2008 and/or Oracle 11g.
Minimum four (4) years experience working with Windows Server, Solaris and Linux, Systems Administration, Oracle and/or MS SQL Server Database Administration.
Professional training that enhances knowledge in information security such as a CISA certification, ITIL, project management or a professional diploma on relevant areas would be an added advantage.
A good understanding of the capital markets is an added advantage.
Advanced and broad IT Knowledge in operating systems, programming, business & systems analysis.
