ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team player to fill the two positions;
 
1. Surveillance Data Analyst Officer
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·                     To gather historical and current data on livestock, crop, livelihood, WASH, health and nutrition, weather and environment sectors from all possible existing sources
·                     To suggest a list of indicators for Drought Vulnerability Surveillance in Northern Kenya
·                     To analyze the data (trend analysis) and compare it with the contextual situation of the geographical area, over a long period of time
·                     To use historical data to identify thresholds for normal/alert/alarm/emergency levels
·                     To suggest relevant types of analysis to be carried out monthly on the pre-identified list of indicators
·                     To draft a format of monthly vulnerability bulletin
·                     To collect the data from various sources on a monthly basis
·                     To analyze the data and produce the bulletin on a monthly basis
·                     To participate in identifying triggering mechanisms for the activation of a contingency plan
·                     To participate in organize trainings and workshops for partners / local and national authorities
·                     To suggest revision and improvement of the system when required
·                     To collaborate closely with the rest of the ECHO La Nina II programming team especially when producing monthly bulletins
·                     To work in close cooperation with the consortium partners and other external partners
·                     To represent ACTED during official coordination meetings when required
·                     Any other duties that may be assigned by the Program Manager.
Required Profile
·                     Bachelor’s degree in statistics, development studies and other related field
·                     Minimum of 2 years experience in analyzing livelihood data and monitoring the effect of changing environment on the livelihood of pastoralist communities
·                     Good inter personnel skills
·                     Good communication and writing skills
·                     Very good planning and organizational skills
·                     Ability to work in a complex environment, with short deadline
·                     Knowledge of the Drought Cycle Management
·                     Ability to work with minimum supervision
·                     Strong team player
·                     Computer literacy skills – Word, Excel essential
·                     Flexibility and adaptability
2. Surveillance Liaison Officer
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·                     To participate in gathering data on livestock, crop, livelihood, WASH, health and nutrition, weather and environment sectors from all possible existing sources
·                     To participate in designing a user friendly monthly surveillance bulletin template
·                     To brief the consortium members each time their participation in the project is required and to follow up on their input
·                     To present the project to local and national authorities, and to external partners, to gather their feedback and suggest how their contribution could be taken into consideration in the design of the project
·                     To seek for technical input from key partners at specific stages of the project when required
·                     To participate in collecting the surveillance indicators data from various sources on a monthly basis
·                     To participate in bringing relevant information for accurate contextual analysis of the data, and this on a monthly basis
·                     To share the results of the analysis with the relevant authorities on a monthly basis and collect their informal approval
·                     To ensure dissemination of the bulletin to the relevant partners (always internally, externally when required)
·                     To prepare and facilitate workshops and training when required (ToR, agenda, invitation, venue, hand out, final reports etc)
·                     To suggest revision and improvement of the system when required
·                     To collaborate closely with the rest of the ECHO La Nina II programming team especially when producing monthly bulletins
·                     To represent ACTED during official coordination meetings when required
Required profile
·                     Bachelor’s degree in development studies and other related field
·                     Minimum of 2 years of similar working experience (training, Capacity Building, Communication…)
·                     Good inter personnel skills
·                     Very good communication skills
·                     Very good planning and organizational skills
·                     Ability to work in a complex environment, with short deadline
·                     Ability to work with minimum supervision
·                     Strong team player
·                     Computer literacy skills – Word, Excel essential
·                     Flexibility and adaptability
·                     Available to travel to the field when required (about 30% of the time)

Have a Masters Degree in Law, Education or any other relevant Social Science.
Have demonstrated professional competence in Civic Education and Advocacy or a related field.
2.   Assistant Director Reconciliation and Integration – NCIC 3

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop work plans and coordinate reconciliation and integration activities.
Responsible for peace-building, conflict management and inter community dialogue activities.
Spearhead the development of peace-building and conflict management advocacy materials in liaison with the Communications and Media Relations Office.
Requirements for Appointment:
Have served for at least seven (7) years in the field of Peace-building, community education or  advocacy three (3) of which should be at a senior supervisory level.
Have a Masters degree in Conflict Management or any other related field.
3.   Investigations Officer – NCIC 5

Duties and Responsibilities:
Undertaking investigations into crimes related to the provisions of the NCI Act 2008.
Preparing reports of findings and making appropriate recommendations.
Requirements for Appointment:
Over six years investigative experience.
Have a Bachelors Degree in criminology, Law or IT.
Possess excellent report writing skills.
Good understanding of the Criminal Procedure Code, Penal Code and the NCI Act.
No pending cases in court or before any disciplinary committee in the Police Force or any other body.

The Director General, National Youth Service wishes to announce for general information that there will be a recruitment of NYS volunteers (males and females) throughout the Republic as per the following requirements and schedule.

All prospective candidates wishing to be enlisted in the National Youth Service must meet the following conditions:
1.   Be Kenyan Citizens and genuine residents of the respective District/Division of interview.
2.   Be between 18 and 22 years of age.
3.   Height: minimum 5ft, 6 inches for men and 5ft, 3 inches for women.
4.   Be unmarried and without dependants.
5.   Be medically and physically fit.
6.   Be prepared to give voluntary service to the nation in any part of Kenya.
7.   Be prepared to undergo military conversion training.
8.   Produce Original National Identity Card, academic certificates (and avail one set of photocopies of the same).
9.   Education – A minimum of grade D+ in K.C.S.E and above.
10.               Must have certificate of good conduct.
11.               Successful candidates will report for their NYS Basic Training Course at NYS College Gilgil on dates to be assigned by each leader of the recruitment teams involved in the exercise.
NB: Orphans who meet the minimum qualification stated above will be given special preference subject to production of sufficient documentary proof such as parents’ death Certificates or burial permits.
