NGO Jobs in Kenya - USAID Contractor


A USAID contractor is recruiting the following positions to be based in Mombasa, Kenya, for an ongoing project focused on civic education, citizen engagement and community strengthening. 

Grants Manager:  
The Grants Manager is responsible for assessing recipient organizations’ grant worthiness, financial, administrative and management capacities, as well as developing and administering budgets and financial tracking for grants awarded to local partners.  

Requires at least three years demonstrated experience in the management and administration of grants or contracts funded by USAID or other donors, in a role such as activity management, financial management, procurement or sub-contracting, preferably in Mombasa or elsewhere along Kenya's Coast.  

Familiarity with USAID contract and grants management policies and procedures is desirable, but experience with other donor funded projects will be accepted.  

Candidates must demonstrate superior management, budgeting and administrative skills required for sound management of cash and in-kind grants.  

Position also requires strong writing and organizational skills, proven knowledge of local and international NGOs, community based organizations, key governmental and other stakeholders present in the area.

 A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent level of education and experience, is required.   

All candidates must possess strong skills in basic computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Grants Assistant:  

The Grants Assistant, reporting to the grants manager,  is responsible for assisting in grants management and administration, including  financial tracking and budget monitoring for grants awarded to local partners, maintaining files,  conducting pre-award due diligence and post-award monitoring and follow up.   

Requires at least one year relevant experience in grants or program management and administration, procurement and/or logistics for USAID or other donor-funded programs in Kenya, preferably in Mombasa or elsewhere along Kenya’s Coast.  

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent level of education and experience, is required.   

All candidates must possess strong skills in basic computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
